One of the major aims of the GoldCoast Oceanfest is to grow the oceansports industry, create awareness for ocean related causes and encourage corporate participation in these endeavours. The Oceanfest is a community initiative, thus, playing a positive role in the social lifestyle of the 'stoked' kids who are stimulated and inspired to get involved in sport by the Pro athletes who participate at GoldCoast. The event supports the community, extends access and activity and hence improves the quality of those touched by this experience.
Our 'Footprints' programme encompasses education through a highly successful schools day, whilst on a more general footing there are individual and group workshops, pro demos, expos and a raft of initiatives engaging young and old to grasp the baton and take an active interest in activities within the local environment. As rolemodels, the responsibility to guide and inform this and the next generation falls directly at our communial door. One sure way to make folk aware of their environment is to get them to enjoy their landscape, their local surrounds, offering them opportunities to have fun whilst learning invaluable tools to keep themselves and their environment fit for the future.
This is a perfect way to evoke everyone into feeling good about themselves and positive about their contribution to their environment and to ensure that they realise that they make a huge difference, which is crucial to the survival of our planet.

In recognition for their contribution of the sustainable development of Marine and Leisure sector in North Devon, Goldcoast Oceanfest was chosen by the European Commission as one of the key event in the UK to represent the 2010 Maritime European Day in collaboration with the North Devon watersports Project (NEA2).
The Maritime European Day is an opportunity to turn the spotlight on the important contribution which the maritime regions and sectors make to Europe's economic, social and cultural well-being. Maritime issues touch the lives of all EU citizens, whether or not they work with or live by the sea, and yet many of us remain unaware of their importance to us.
Maritime Day helps raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges facing the maritime sector and encourages networking among its different players. The Maritime European day is a celebration of our maritime environment and culture which is precisely what Goldcoast Oceanfest is all about !
