North Devon
Sun, sea, surf and sand. It’s what summer’s all about! On a beautiful sunny day, there’s nothing like building sandcastles, throwing a frisbee or playing catch with the kids, right here in North Devon.
Like its antipodean cousin, England’s own GoldCoast, takes in a breathtaking stretch of real coastline against a majestic backdrop, which keeps attracting visitors back to sample the tranquility within this unique space. And the similarities don’t end there, especially if we’re comparing the quality of surf at it’s best.
Wherever you decide to head in North Devon and Exmoor, you”ll always be able to find great local food cooked well, at family pubs, restaurants and cafes. Off the beaten track, you’ll find plenty of stunning coves and sheltered bays to bask in. All you have to do is look a little harder. But, it’s always worth it when you find a beach to call your own. Take a picnic and a sense of adventure and you”ll have a day out to remember.
Our beaches aren’t simply famous for their golden sands and clean water, they are famous for beach and water sports too. The flat sandy beach at Westward Ho! is great for kite buggying and sand boarding, whilst the Atlantic rollers at Woolacombe, Putsborough (left), Westward Ho! and Saunton are great for surfers of all levels, with Croyde loved by the experts.
Finding accommodation near your favourite beach is easy too. There are holiday cottages and B&Bs all over North Devon and Exmoor to suit any size family or pocket, as well as luxury hotels and campsites a plenty. Definitely an opportunity to come back and visit anytime of the year.
